I don't usually do craft shows, fairs, etc., but I'm stepping outside of my comfort zone and taking part in a local market coming up in March. There will be fresh produce as well as handmade items such as soaps and candy. I'm actually looking forward to it! This will be the first one and it's about 4 minutes from my house. Of course, there's tons of work that needs to be done before then. I need to get a new canopy first. I'm hoping to do that towards the end of this month. I'm still researching which one would be best for shows in case I decide to do more in the near future. I need to order new business cards and figure out my display. I've started with inventory, and these are a few of the pieces that will be heading to market... It's been a lazy day. Not that I'm complaining. I did manage to list a bumblebee painting on Etsy though... And here's the avocado painting I listed on Etsy yesterday... They're both going to the McHenry Market at McDaniel's General Merchandise in McHenry on March 9th. I don't usually do markets and craft shows, but this one is right in the middle of my (tiny) community and I'm looking forward to checking it out. It's a farmer's market with homemade items as well. And it's from 12-4 on a Saturday so I don't even have to wake up early. Sweet!

No, I'm not pregnant. They're just my most recent listings on Etsy. The ice cream cone I picked up from the coffee shop on Monday, but the oyster is new. I think it would look good in a set, so I've been kicking around some ideas of sets of 3 in 4x4 or 6x6 groupings. Any ideas of good themes for groupings of 2 or 3? I'm feeling a coastal vibe lately, so maybe I'll go with that. I also agreed to do a market today! It doesn't start until March 9th, but I'm already getting excited about it. I don't do many shows or markets. In the past, they just haven't been very beneficial for business. But this... this is at the local mom & pop store about 3 minutes away from my house. I can't resist something that will bring exposure as well as benefit my community. So on Saturday, March 9th (and every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the months following), I'll be hanging out at McDaniel's General Merchandise for McHenry Market! I'm looking forward to ...

I picked up this proud little peacock from the coffee shop yesterday to list in my Etsy shop. I like to offer these 4x4 minis as an affordable alternative to larger pieces. Plus they're just fun to do.You can find this one here .

So after my bout of artist block, I immediately jumped into Christmas commissions... portraits and artwork that I had to keep secret until after Christmas so I couldn't share them here. I quickly burnt out on detailed pieces, and after Christmas, it took me awhile to get back into the swing of my regular schedule. I've been painting again, but I haven't really picked back up on portrait commissions just yet. The burnout is real, yall. I'm slowly coming back around. Today I went to Southern Turnings to drop off new artwork to sell there, and pick up some pieces that haven't sold. I'm going to be listing them on Etsy as I can, and the first piece is listed here . While I was there I got a Who Dat latte and it was delicious. Try this out... Bourbon Caramel, Salted Caramel, & Dark Chocolate. It was dreary and rainy here today so it was a great day for a latte.

I've been absent. I haven't wanted to be, but I've been struggling with a bout of artist's block that's left me down and frustrated. In an effort to try to break through this block, I decided to try something new that would hopefully get me excited and get me back to work. After checking out a few options, I settled on oil and cold wax. Cold wax is really just a medium that you mix with the oil paints to get different effects such as texture and it also helps with blending and drying time. I tried it yesterday for the first time, and after wiping my panel off once, I had something that I was somewhat pleased with. As usual, I uploaded a photo of it to Instagram and then my business page on Facebook . Once it was shared on my business page, it sold within moments. I think this just might be the kick in the pants I needed to get back to work!

I'm experimenting. A big part of selling on Etsy is trial and error. Since I've been on the mandala kick lately, I decided to do a couple of smaller pieces to list on Etsy and see how they do. The first one is reminiscent of a recent 12x12 mandala. It's listed for purchase on Etsy here .

Another mandala. I find the repetition relaxing. I usually don't do too many of these in a row, but they seem to be becoming a theme lately. This one will go to the coffee shop with the others.

Something else a little bit different... I often get commissions for baby heartbeat paintings. This one is on a 16x20 gallery wrapped canvas, as the majority of them are. It's in neutral colors because nobody will know if baby Lizana is a boy or girl until his or her birthday!

And another one... I must be stressed. This one includes the fleur de lis pattern as well as some familiar patterns from the previous mandala. It's available for purchase through me until it goes to The Coffee Shop at Southern Turnings, LLC in Wiggins, MS.

A little something different... I like to do pieces like this from time to time when I need to relax and realign. It's a gold mandala pattern on a red background, on a 12x12 acrylic canvas. Rather than list my larger canvases on Etsy, I usually take them to a local coffee shop/gallery for purchase there in order to keep my shipping costs down for my Etsy customers. But this piece is still available for purchase.

I have a couple of friends that sell produce, and they always have the sweetest, juiciest oranges while they're in season. This is one of those oranges, sliced in half. It was painted on Day 46 of my 90 day painting challenge. It's now listed for purchase on Etsy here .

A tabasco bottle and a single pepper are the subject of this 5x7 painting. I used a fractioning technique on this one, and I'm really pleased with the way these turn out. I just listed it for purchase on Etsy here .

Charlee and Huntlee Kate never had the opportunity to meet their grandmother, but they know she's watching over them. My latest portrait commission, it's an 11x14 graphite portrait on archival paper.

My most recently completed paint commission is a play on the Wizard of Oz's wicked witch. With a few personalized touches here and there, the Wicked Witch is an 18x24 acrylic on canvas with pink sparkly paint shoes and ring. I really enjoyed the fun nature of this piece.
