Blueberries in a Basket

Day 32 brought about a basket of blueberries. It's listed for purchase on Etsy here .

Fried Egg

Another one of my favorites! A fried egg was the subject of Day 63 of my painting challenge. It's available for sale on Etsy here .

Chocolate Pie with Strawberries

A slice of chocolate pie topped with strawberries was the subject of Day 20 of my 90 day painting challenge. It's a 4x4 painting on textured canvas and is listed for sale on Etsy here .

Tomato Slice

One of my favorites! There's nothing like a fresh tomato sandwich with mayo and white bread. This slice of tomato was the subject of Day 45 of my 90 day painting challenge, and is listed for sale on Etsy here .

The Whatley Boys

Switching gears a little bit. This is a portrait I recently finished that was finally gifted last night so I can share it here with you. Commissioned by a father for his lovely wife, The Whatley Boys is an 18x24 pencil portrait on archival paper, based on a photo taken at Roosevelt State Park.

Shrimp

This close to the Gulf Coast, we eat a lot of seafood. Shrimp is a favorite. It was also the subject of Day 85 of my 90 day painting challenge. It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Red Apple

Another fractured subject, this red apple was the subject of Day 36 of my 90 day painting challenge. I love the colors in this one. It's listed for sale on Etsy here . I'm currently working on a commissioned portrait of 2 little girls and the grandmother they never had the chance to meet. I'll be sharing that here after it's been gifted. There's a party scheduled tonight for the recipient of my last portrait, so hopefully I'll be able to share that here soon.

Bumblebee

A bumblebee on an orange flower was the subject of Day 68 of my daily painting challenge. I tried to use a looser approach with this one and I really like the way it turned out. It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Abstract

A little something different... an abstract oil painting on textured canvas was the subject of this piece. This one wasn't actually part of my 90 day painting challenge, but something I threw in during a string of pencil portraits to help break up the monotony of all the black and white. I really like the way it turned out! It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Bowl of Cherries

A bowl of cherries was the subject of my Day 29 painting. It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Cutting Board

A cutting board with tomatoes, garlic, and a red pepper were the subject of my Day 28 painting. I was working towards using fewer brush strokes to convey the subject. It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Strawberry

A single strawberry on a blue background was the subject of my day 70 painting. I like the contrast on this one, and the way the white highlights turned out. It's listed for sale on Etsy here .

Clementine

On day 34, I tried a little something different on a previously textured canvas. I wanted to try a more fractured, figurative approach, and I really like the end result. You can find it listed on Etsy here .

Raw Oyster

Oysters have played a big role in our family for years. My father-in-law (more like my dad) made his living as an oyster fisherman, running a skiff out of Pass Christian Harbor. I'd often go with him to help him get done more quickly, and there's nothing like the taste of a fresh, raw oyster that's just been shucked and rinsed in the salt water of the Gulf. Oysters have been the subject of many of my paintings. This particular oyster painting was on Day 47 of my daily painting challenge. It's available for purchase on Etsy here .

Green Apple

This was the result of day 49 of my daily painting challenge. I really like the texture on the canvas. It helped give a pleasantly unexpected result. It's listed on Etsy here .

Broken Egg

One of the biggest benefits of my daily painting challenge was exploring alternate styles and techniques. In my day 72 painting, I experimented with using fewer brush strokes, and using my brush strokes more loosely. It's listed for sale on Etsy here  (sold).

Lemon Wedged

This was day 42 of my 90 day painting challenge, listed here on Etsy. I like the texture I was able to achieve on the lemon half and wedges. These paintings aren't posted in any particular order other than the way they were listed on Etsy. With future 90 day painting challenges, I plan to post them all in order here.

Half Dozen Oysters

Still working on lighting for my photos... just can't seem to get it quite right. I do plan to redo these in the near future. For now, this will work. This was day 80 of my painting challenge, and is listed on Etsy here .

Red Pepper

Day 78 of my 90 day painting challenge brought about this red pepper painting that's listed on Etsy here .

Pink Donut with Sprinkles

I paint a lot of food. This sweet little pink treat measures 6 inches x 6 inches and is listed on Etsy here . It was actually Day 76 of my 90 day painting a day challenge.

Blog Revamp!

Moving in a different direction and revamping the ol blog! This page is and will continue to be a work in progress. I plan to add new pieces here on a regular basis. I'm going to start with this piece... a red and green boho pattern previously listed on Etsy here . I really appreciated the meditative aspect of this one... the repetition of elements was very soothing and relaxing. We may be seeing more of these in the future! In an effort to improve my painting skills, I recently took a 90 day painting a day challenge and really enjoyed it. Most of the pieces I'll list in the near future will be pieces I completed during the challenge. The end goal is to post daily updates on daily paintings. I do love doing portrait commissions and plan to continue those, but add in daily paintings as well. If you'd like to see updates on the portraits, let me know. As I mentioned before, this is a work in progress. Thanks, yall! It's good to "see" you again!
